Slowgrindfever // Cellardoor \\ Gesaffelstein

This week’s post features two mixes and a song to make up for last week (and more than enough to cover any other eventualities that may get in the way of rigorous weekly posting…)

An ambitious cross genre mix of slow tempo re-edits, remixes and bootlegs featuring South Africa’s own Felix Laband and Stolen Pony alongside Warpaint, The XX, Bonobo, Depeche Mode, Detachments, Siouxsie & the Banshees, In Flagranti, Lindstrom & Christabelle, Stevie Nicks, Peaking Lights, Lace Curtain, LKJ and more. This mix has been a labour of love for the past few months. Listen to the mix on Mixcloud HERE

CELLARDOOR 10th Anniversary Mix

In Oct 2005 Cellardoor hosted its first Epic-Future-Retro-Indie-Alternative-Electro party. This is a live mix of some of my favourite tracks from those parties between 2005-2007. Artwork here is from the first Cellardoor CD released in South Africa in 2006. It was designed by my wife, the ever lovely Fiona O’Connor, who also designed every single flyer and poster up to the middle of 2007. Listen to the mix on Mixcloud HERE

Gesaffelstein – Destinations

I did a re-edit of this for Amos Tranque’s runway show at SA Fashion Week this past Saturday. It worked really well with his range which I will describe only as futuristic (being the fashion philistine I am). The album ALEPH, is heavily influenced by early industrial/Belgian sound with nods to DAF and Liaisons Dangereuses.
